AI governance for San Antonio, delivered by a social enterprise that gives back.

Pass IT On, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

San Antonio turns out veterans with discipline and graduates with tech skills into an industry that now automates the entry-level work they were trained for, and every employer asks the same question: what have you done with a real client, a real deadline and adult staff who did not have to listen to you? Pass IT On, Inc. (Texas Chapter) answers it. Our people run six-month engagements keeping AI in bounds for local nonprofits, then we train them to contract on their own and hire from our own graduates when funding lands. Not one shot at experience. As many as it takes. And they keep what they build. No contract to work off, no debt to us. A mobile unit takes the program to them.

We train community members in AI governance. And we give local organizations a scholarship to build it.

Pass IT On, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit social enterprise serving communities since 2015. Pass It On Texas is its San Antonio chapter. We have helped people with no technology background build real careers, and now we are doing it for AI governance.

Who we are

Where you fit in San Antonio’s AI workforce

1Workforce development

You put people to work

Your placement numbers are getting harder to hit. Few programs prepare people for AI adoption, and the few that do can’t show you who got hired. Your funders still expect the numbers.

What you get

Send your people here. They build AI governance skills that every industry adopting AI needs, not only the cyber jobs that require a clearance, and they leave with real client work to prove it. That’s an outcome you can report.

2Subject matter experts

You’ve spent a career in governance, security, nonprofits or law

You know what good governance looks like, and the next generation is learning it without you.

What you get

Guide a team through a real project for a San Antonio nonprofit in three-month cycles. Sharpen your AI governance skills alongside other experts while you do it.

3Donors

You want your gift to stay in San Antonio

The program has trained people and a full kit of equipment, but nowhere to meet and no way to move it.

What you get

Your gift buys a home base and a mobile unit that put trained people in front of the students and nonprofits who need them. Tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

4Participants

You have the training but not the experience

Every application asks for experience, and no one will give you your first shot.

What you get

Start with 20 volunteer hours, interview for a competitive internship, and leave with six months of real client work that’s yours to keep.

Our experience

We have taken people with no IT skills and helped them land jobs in IT and cybersecurity.

01

Our standing

Pass IT On, Inc. has earned close to $1 million in grants and awards and serves thousands of people every year through its Maryland headquarters. Pass It On Texas is its San Antonio chapter. Your gift is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

02

Our experience

We have run cohorts from Texas for people across the state and the country. We have taken people with no IT skills and helped them land jobs in IT and cybersecurity. We have turned volunteers into teaching assistants and teaching assistants into instructors. We did it first with Microsoft Digital Literacy.

03

Our proof

One of our Texas participants started as a volunteer. He became a teaching assistant, then an instructor. An employer recently called us to run his background check. They are hiring him full time to teach.

Pass IT On, Inc. (Texas Chapter) is expanding. Here is how you can help.

What we do

We teach people to govern AI. Then we send them out to do it.

Governance, risk and compliance is a mouthful. Here is what it means. Set the rules for how your organization uses AI. Check that the rules are followed. Keep the proof.

01

Why this, why now

AI will change who has a job. It will not change who is responsible. When an AI tool makes a bad call, no algorithm shows up in court. The person who runs the organization does. Every organization using AI needs someone who knows how to keep it in bounds, and because new risks show up every month, that job never goes away.

02

Training and certification

Bootcamps and workshops in cybersecurity, AI literacy and AI security awareness. Certification prep for Security+ and more. We are an official Pearson VUE testing partner with mobile delivery, and we run a peer review testing center, so people earn the credential instead of just studying for it.

03

Train the trainer

We do not just train people. We train the people who will train others. Graduates who finish the pipeline can step into teaching assistant and instructor roles, and our next program takes that further: AI security awareness trainers who can brief a busy executive on the risks that matter to their industry, in writing and in the room.

Our priority program

The Nonprofit Local Business AI Adoption Scholarship

A local nonprofit applies. If selected, we spend six months with them, at no cost, building AI governance they can stand behind: the rules for how they use AI, the checks that the rules are followed, and the proof.

Subject matter experts volunteer in three-month cycles, and each one owns a piece of the build. Deadlines, sprints, real deliverables. Students commit for six months and work alongside those experts on the same nonprofit engagement.

The nonprofit

Gets AI governance it could not afford to buy.

The expert

Gives three months to a real engagement, guides the interns' project work, sharpens their own AI governance skills, and trades notes with peers.

The student

Gets real experience, real mentors, and real relationships with the people who hire.

Get involved

Here is the path

01

Volunteer

20 hours of support to the nonprofit, in whatever capacity we need. This is where you decide if volunteerism is something you can execute.

02

Intern

Apply and interview. We choose. Interns get scholarships to trainings, access to audit security boot camps, certification testing fees, and hands-on, project-based learning and project management tasks under the guidance of subject matter experts. That last part is the heart of it: real client-facing experience, and you build team skills, soft skills, and confidence in helping people who know less than you.

03

Graduate

Earned by finishing six months of the work. It runs like a part-time job with a part-time team, and it is not for everyone.

04

Keep going

Graduation is not the end. We train you to work as a freelance contractor or as an employee, and we support you either way. When grants and funding open trainer positions, we fill them from our own people.

How the exchange works
The mobile IT lab packed in Pelican cases

The mobile IT lab, packed and ready. It has nowhere to go.

The 2026 ask

We have the program. We need a place to run it and a way to move it.

What we have

  • A mobile IT lab: server, switch and router
  • Multiple Pelican cases of training and testing equipment
  • Practice laptops for training and testing
  • Two 4-foot folding tables
  • Volunteers, subject matter experts and a tested program model
  • Pearson VUE testing partnership with mobile delivery

What we lack

  • A location of our own to run cohorts and host community partners
  • A vehicle to move the lab and equipment between sites
  • Storage for the equipment between sessions

Right now the program has nowhere to meet and no way to move what it owns.

From online to in person

Why we're bringing the program into the room

Our cohorts have run online. In 2026 we're moving to in-person, and your gift makes that move possible.

Learning by osmosis

People pick up more by working alongside experienced practitioners than any screen can teach. They hear how experts talk to clients, work through problems and make decisions, and it rubs off.

Soft skills you can't learn online

Running a meeting, reading a room, handling a difficult client, presenting to a board. These are the skills employers ask about most, and they grow face to face.

Hands on real equipment

Participants work with the mobile lab's server, switch and router, not just a screen.

Teamwork the way client work happens

Engagements run face to face, on real deadlines, with subject matter experts in the room.

Mentorship that lasts

Participants build working relationships with experts and with the people who hire.

Testing in a familiar setting

Our Pearson VUE mobile delivery brings certification exams to the sites where participants already learn. Testing somewhere familiar takes the stress down and helps scores go up.

Visible in San Antonio

Local partners, employers and donors can see the work happening.

Where your gift goes

A vehicle, a trailer, and a home base.

Your gift puts the mobile lab on the road: a vehicle to tow it, a trailer to carry it and serve as a mobile office, the modifications and insurance to run it, and a home base to work from. How far the build goes depends on what we raise, and every dollar goes to getting the program moving. Your gift is seed money, not a subscription. Once the pipeline is running, Pass It On Texas pays its own way through fee-based services and grants.
